The Realm of the Tankless Hot Water Heater The tankless hot water heater is a phenomena that is sweeping across the entire world. Okay, that is a fairly excessive exaggeration. But, the tankless hot water heater is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds and it is growing in popularity mainly because it provides a cheap and effective alternative to the traditional gas heater because it heats water ‘on demand.’ That is, it heats water as the water comes out of the tank, as opposed to the traditional gas water heater where unused water sits in the tank, a sincerely less cost effective method of heating a water supply. There are numerous ways that a tankless hot water heater will heat water. Well, actually there is only one way: it heats the water by raising the temperature. Now, the various sources of energy that are used to raise the temperature vary. There are electric water heaters, propane water heaters, etc. all of which are cheaper than the traditional gas water heater that does little more than cost tons of extra money throughout the year while heating the water in a significantly inefficient manner. The traditional, pilot light driven water heater is also not exactly the safest thing to have in one’s home. These water heaters have been known to explode when the temperature is cranked up to high so in that regard, why on earth would anyone want to keep one in their home if a safer alternative was available? A tankless hot water heater is generally not a very expensive piece of equipment and can be set up and installed in a relatively short period of time. In that regard, it is not all that difficult to make the switch from a gas water heater to a new fangled tankless hot water heater.
